What are the main challenges in not completing a home exercise programme?

  • Lack of time
  • Busy work schedule
  • Lack of confidence in doing the exercises correctly

Lets look at each of these challenges and come up with simple ways to overcome them.

Lack of time

  • Break exercises into smaller chunks throughout the day
  • Complete exercises whilst brushing your teeth, watching TV, waiting for the kettle to boil
  • Schedule 5 minutes into your daily routine

Remember consistency is more important than perfection. A few minutes every day is often better than one long session every now and then.

Work gets in the way

  • Take short movement breaks during the day
  • Complete exercises before or after work
  • Choose exercises that can be done at your desk or workplace
  • Discuss your schedule with your physiotherapist so your programme can fit around your lifestyle

Your rehabilitation programme should work with you not against you.
