Shockwave Therapy

Stimulate your body’s natural healing process

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave is a non-invasive, out-patient alternative to surgery or injections – perfect for those with joint and tendon disorders. Endorsed by NICE Guidelines for the treatment of chronic or persistent tendinopathies, it’s an evidence-based, effective approach to relieving pain and promoting the healing of injured tendons, ligaments and other soft tissue.

When do we use shockwave therapy?

We use shockwave therapy to treat:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Most tendon conditions
  • Achilles tendon issues
  • Hamstring
  • Patellar tendinopathies
  • Gluteal tendinopathies
  • Tennis elbow tendinopathies
  • Hip pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Shin splints

How does shockwave therapy work?

The treatment sends high pressure acoustic shockwaves into the affected area – cleverly activating your body’s own healing process by acting like a catalyst for the key phase of healing. It also stimulates the enzymes involved in reducing pain. Clever stuff.

It’s a quick treatment, usually only lasting for between 5 and 25 minutes (depending on the severity of your injury), and is covered by most private health insurance. It does feel a little uncomfortable, but it’s definitely bearable. But the effects are impressive – most conditions will be completely resolved after just 1-3 sessions.
